What is an EPP Authorization Key/Code ?

EPP Authorization Codes are secret keys used to transfer domains.

An EPP Authorization Key or Code is a secret code obtainable from a domain registrar used to transfer a domain. This code is used to protect a domain from being transferred against its owner’s will. The EPP authorization key can only be obtained by the person listed on the domain registration as its administrative contact.

In order to initiate a domain transfer from another registration provider, the domain’s administrative contact (who is usually the domain owner) will need to request the EPP authorization code from their domain registration provider or registrar. EPP authorization codes will often be emailed to the domain administrative contact when requested.
